The Graduate School does not have a deadline for processing applications. (Exception: International applicants must submit materials at least four months before the beginning of the semester for which they are applying.) Applicants should ascertain application deadlines by contacting the individual graduate program. Applications should be submitted as early as possible.
AUGUST
20-21 Friday-Saturday — arrival days for new students
22 Sunday—student registration deadline
23 Monday—classes begin
SEPTEMBER
6 Monday—Labor Day holiday
6 Monday—last date for a fall graduate to activate the intent to graduate on eLion
7 Tuesday—last date to apply for the Health Insurance/Graduate Assistantship Tuition Eligibility Program. Visit http://gradsch.psu.edu/fellowships/healthinsr.html for eligibility information or to obtain an application form.
27 Monday—last date for a fall graduate to upload a draft of the doctoral dissertation to the eTD Web site for format review (http://www.etda.libraries.psu.edu/index_maint.html)
29 Wednesday—last date for a fall graduate to submit a draft of the master’s thesis to the eTD Web site for format review (http://www.etda.libraries.psu.edu/index_maint.html)
OCTOBER
11 Monday—last date for a fall graduate to pass final doctoral defense (dept. must return report form to Graduate Enrollment Services immediately)
NOVEMBER
1 Monday—nominations for the Graduate Assistant Outstanding Teaching Award, the Graduate Faculty Teaching Award, the Palmer Faculty Mentoring Award, the Graduate Program Chair Leadership Award, the Alumni Association Dissertation Award, the Rustum and Della Roy Innovation in Materials Research Award due in 209 Kern Bldg.
