IGDP Fund for Excellence in Graduate Recruitment (FEGR)
The purpose of the Fund for Excellence in Graduate Recruitment (FEGR) is to enhance the competitiveness of Penn State’s graduate support. A block of these funds has been set aside for the Intercollege Graduate Degree Programs. These funds provide resources to enhance offers to highly qualified students. The targeting of highly competitive students outlined in the program requires significant work by faculty members involved in the recruiting process. For further eligibility criteria, please refer to the program guidelines.
As students are identified, requests for these funds should be made directly to the Office of Graduate Fellowships and Awards Administration (via e-mail, fax, etc.) listing the individual student information requested on the reporting form. Programs will be notified within a few business days if the request is approved or denied. Programs may submit multiple requests; however, funds are competitive and limited, and only excellent quality students will be considered. Funds will be deposited directly into students’ accounts upon enrollment at Penn State.
These funds have been provided through support by the Penn State Alumni Association as a separate endowment to the Graduate School. It is important to identify any FEGR-related top-up awards made to prospective IGDP students as an "Alumni Association Graduate Fellowship," so that students are aware of the source and recognize the prestige associated with such an award.
For all IGDPs that receive FEGR funds, a final report must be submitted to the Office of Graduate Fellowships and Awards Administration by the early-September deadline, and must include data summarizing quality indicators for all FEGR recipients versus all new students (exclusive of FEGR recipients) for the program.
