University Park -- The Graduate School Seeks Nominations for Awards

The Graduate School is seeking nominations for the Penn State Alumni Association Dissertation Awards, the Graduate Assistant Outstanding Teaching Award, the Graduate Program Chair Leadership Award, the Graduate Faculty Teaching Award and the Howard B. Palmer Faculty Mentoring Award. Nominations for these awards are due November 1.

The Penn State Alumni Association Dissertation Awards provide funding and recognition to outstanding full-time doctoral students who have passed their comprehensive exams and have received approval of their dissertation topics, or to M.F.A. students in their final year.

The Graduate Assistant Outstanding Teaching Award recognizes a graduate assistant for outstanding teaching performance and is open to graduate students who have served as graduate assistants for at least two semesters within the last two years.

The Graduate Program Chair Leadership Award recognizes a faculty member for exemplary leadership benefiting graduate students and faculty in an existing graduate degree program at Penn State.

The Graduate Faculty Teaching Award recognizes a faculty member for outstanding teaching performance and advising of doctoral students. The award is for those who have not received the University's highest accolade for teaching and scholarship (an Evan Pugh professorship, a distinguished professorship, or the Eisenhower or Lindback awards).

The Howard B. Palmer Faculty Mentoring Award is presented to a full-time member of the faculty who has demonstrated "effective mentoring through guiding and nurturing the collegial and professional development of junior faculty."

Forms and information about these awards are available online. For additional information, contact the Graduate School Office of Fellowships and Awards Administration at l-gs-fellowships@lists.psu.edu or 814-865-2514.
